A HERITAGE WE CAN BE PROUD OF...

Seafood potjie originated along South Africa's coastal regions, where fishermen would combine fresh catch with local vegetables and spices in a cast-iron pot. This dish celebrates the abundance of the ocean, bringing flavours together that reflect the vibrant culture of coastal living.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 Tbsp Sunflower Oil 

  • ⅔ Garlic Cloves, crushed

  • 2 Onions, chopped

  • 3 Kingklip Fillets 

  • 10 - 12 Prawns, Defrosted 

  • 450 g Fresh Mussels 

  • 1 Tomato, chopped

  • 2 Green Bell Peppers, sliced

  • 1 Red bell Pepper, sliced 

  • 275 ml Milk 

  • 275 ml Water 

  • 1 x 50 g IMANA Super-Sheba Seafood Potjie Mix Sachet

METHOD

  1. Prepare all the ingredients - chop, slice & measure out everything.

  2. Place the potjie pot over hot coals & add oil.

  3. Add in the onions and garlic and allow to cook for 3 - 4 minutes and set aside.

  4. Add in the sliced peppers & fry for 5 minutes.

  5. In a jug, mix in the IMANA Super-Sheba Seafood Potjie Mix sachet with 275 ml water & milk and add to the potjie pot.

  6. Adjust the coals so that potjie is simmering over low heat, cover with lid and simmer for 10 minutes.

  7. Add in the kingklip, prawns and mussels into the pot and cover and simmer for 10 - 12 minutes.

  8. Season with salt & black pepper.

  9. Serve with basmati rice.
